It’s story time…
This is our most extensive palette to date: 56 mini ecopods of soil-based watercolor paint, set into a walnut wooden palette. Each mini ecopod is approximately 0.4 ml of dry, semi-spherical soil-based watercolor paint. The palette includes our new mixing spaces on the underside of the lid and measures approximately 6” × 6.4” × 1”.
We were absolutely giddy as we filled these palettes - they are truly gorgeous. After allowing the mini ecopods to sit overnight and settle into their wells, we added the lids… and that’s when we realized our terrible mistake.
The lid was designed with a vertical rib, which unfortunately runs directly over the fourth column of mini ecopods. When brand new, the paint protrudes just slightly above the surface of the palette, meaning the lid will not fully close until that center column has been used enough for the paint to sit below the surface.
To be clear: the paints, palette, and mixing space are all first quality. This is purely a design oversight. While we were initially devastated, we see this as a learning opportunity. Rather than dispose of perfectly good palettes and paint (we would never do that), we’re offering them at 50% off.
Please note: the lid will not close completely until the paints been partially used and are flush with the base.
